Lake Murray Swims

A weekly group swim at the Lake Murray Park on the Lexington side of the Dam. The current schedule is every Sunday at 5pm. FREE to anyone who wants to join except for the fee to get into the park ($3/visit or $45 for the season and they do not accept cards). Anyone from first timers to experienced swimmers welcome to join. We will plan to meet at the far end of the parking lot near the bathrooms. You can find the Facebook event here.

The workout completely depends on who shows up on the day and what races are approaching. It won’t always be perfect conditions and everyone is responsible for themselves, but it will only be better with others! Remember, race day will not always be pretty conditions and this is the best place to prepare for that.

I (Adam) hope to be able to make as many as I can but will not always be present. If you have any questions about Open Water swimming or triathlons then feel free to ask and I’ll do what I can to help as there’s time! I’m also always available for messages outside of the event as well.

I’ll be actively checking in with any brands or businesses that are willing to help out our group with deals and support and you can find some already established below. If you have any questions about finding or ordering any gear then just let me know. We may also plan for dinner after if there is any interest!

New Wave Swim Buoy

If you have seen any swimmers in the lake with a bright buoy trailing behind them, there is a good chance that it is a New Wave Swim Buoy. These buoys provide additional visibility from boats, a dry place to put your phone/keys, and something to grab onto if you need a little additional flotation (though it is not classified as a lifesaving device). If you ever venture to the edge or outside of a designated swim area, this is pretty much a must-have item. I have a good number of extra buoys for swimmers to use for our swimmers to use on Sundays, but I encourage you to check out getting a buoy for yourself and their other products at their website here. Use code “ilovebuoys” for 10% off sitewide.
